What is Pathway to QTS (PQTS)?

Our Pathway to QTS programme will prepare you to be assessed for qualified teacher status (QTS) via our Assessment Only Route (AOR) while you continue to work at your current school. It’s a high quality, low-cost route to becoming a qualified teacher that is personalised to you and your school.

You can start the programme at any point in the academic year.

How Does Pathway to QTS (PQTS) Work?

PQTS is a flexible in-school and online QTS preparation programme. It allows you to continue teaching, whilst working as a TA, HLTA or unqualified teacher, as you prepare for QTS assessment via our Assessment Only Route. The Programme is personalised to your needs and based on your current teaching experience. It will help you to work towards having two years of teaching experience in two schools and develop your teaching to ensure you are meeting the Teachers’ Standards and have evidence for this.

You will receive an individualised PQTS training programme and be assigned an Educate Coach who will support you throughout your journey to make sure you are meeting the Teachers’ Standards and Assessment Only Criteria. This included self-study modules and face to face visits and online coaching. When you are ready, we will support you through to the final QTS assessment via our Assessment Only route. The length of your PQTS Programme will be based on your existing teaching experience and will be designed in collaboration with you and your school.
