What We Look For.

We are looking for confident and capable applicants who demonstrate true commitment to a teaching career and a robust, determined, positive attitude. We are looking for trainees who can fit very well into their school team, who can respond positively to feedback and who can make a valuable contribution to school life. We are not looking for a ‘finished product’ but for trainees who demonstrate real potential to succeed. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with a whole range of people and be engaging, warm and sociable. They should be organised, prepared and professional.

Applying for SCITT.

Entry Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Level 4/ Grade C or above (or the equivalent standard).
  • A GCSE Science subject at Level 4/ Grade C or above (or the equivalent standard) if you want to be a Primary school teacher.
  • We are happy to accept applications with qualifications pending.
  • Please note, we do not accept Functional Skills at any level as equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4.
  • If your qualifications are not of the required level, you can take our GCSE equivalency tests. Contact us here.
  • Evidence of subject knowledge should you wish to train in Secondary.
  • An enhanced DBS check for the child workforce, with a check of the children’s barred list, will be required following a successful offer and prior to commencement.

Funding:

  • Course fees are £9,250 for QTS with PGCE (the PGCE is validated by Leeds Beckett University). Please contact us here for more information.
  • Students are usually eligible for a student loan to cover the course fees and may be eligible for a maintenance loan.
  • Loans are available through the  Student Loans Company, selecting Educate Group Initial Teacher Training as your provider.
  • Please note, for trainees domicile in Wales there is a Tuition Fee loan cap of £6165, therefore for those trainees they will need to make alternate arrangements to pay the remainder. An instalment plan is available. All school placements must take place in England.
  • Depending on the phase and/or subject you wish to train in, and your degree classification, you may be eligible for a Government training bursary or scholarship This will be paid to you, in instalments, after you begin your course.

Applying for Assessment Only.

Entry Requirements:

  • Extensive, recent, relevant, and successful teaching experience in at least two schools (in England or international schools with an English style Curriculum and within the age phase of either 3-11 (primary), 7-14 (middle) or 11-19 (secondary).
  • A minimum of two years’ teaching experience with full responsibility for the planning, teaching, and assessment of lessons.
  • Teaching experience will be substantiated by school testimonies signed by the head teachers on the Educate Testimonial Template.
  • Candidates must put themselves forward for assessment in a recognised secondary subject or primary (where all primary NC subjects will have been taught).
  • Candidates must have taught across the full age and ability range for the age range they want assessment in.
  • An undergraduate degree.
  • GCSE Maths and English language (or equivalent) at Level 4 (Grade C) or above.
  • GCSE Science (or equivalent) at Level 4 (Grade C) or above for a Primary Candidate.

  • Candidates must have a supporting school for the assessment period who signs up to our partnership agreement.
